I'm starting to learn with Hugh, it's all about the motivation. For instance, I want him to feed himself. I put ample amounts of Cheerios and "stars" on his tray and talk to him about how delicious they are. Nope, nothing. Well, that's not entirely true. He will pick them up, drop them off the side, and then lean over the highchair to see where they have landed in respect to the toys, sippy cup and all else he's launched off.
As the story continues, today Hugh and I were in Geoff's study surrounded by all of his...his..."equipment" (sporting/music/reading/school/camping/golfing). Geoff was at school and I had free reign on his lap top. Geoffrey is very good about keeping his things nice and in order. Hugh saw all that was gear surrounding him as great motivation to get up and go. He started crawling all over. I couldn't believe it! I've been dangling all sorts of his toys, trying to convince him to stay up on his knees for weeks. All it took was some merchandise that he wanted and he was off! Welcome to the world of movement baby Hugh! I guess tomorrow the baby proofing begins!!!
Oh, and don't worry. Yesterday I discovered Hugh is happy to feed himself french bread just as easy as if he's been practicing for months. Then again, I'll do a lot for some fresh bread too! :)

Thanks heavens there is no limit as to how many times you can view the video clips! Our tongue-clicking, crawling grandbaby couldn't be more adorable.
I learned the same thing with Samantha! I was on the floor doing a scrapbooking project and she wanted all the paper so bad and I just kept moving it away. Pretty soon she just decided to up and crawl for it. It's funny how kids seem to have a mind of their own even at such a young age! Have fun with all the baby proofing--now you're in for a REAL treat!
Uh oh, trouble starts here!
go hugh!!!!! he looks like an old pro...he just got right up on his knees and went for it!!! cute cute cute :)
Alright Hugh! yeah, he will be all over the place now!
So cute! They start picking up on skills so quickly around this age. He'll be up and walking before you know it...kind-of sad. They grow up so fast!
Honestly, I don't think babies come cuter than him! Have fun baby proofing! :)
I didn't realize how dark his hair is getting...maybe it's the lighting? Good job Hugh....good luck Ann-Marie ;)
Congrats and I'm sorry. It is exciting, but It's a whole new world. I didn't really understand that until it happened. I don't think he can get any cuter!
Good job Hugh!!
Way to go Hugh! He is just growing up so fast!
This video of Hugh is SO CUTE!
