Paging....

I had one of THOSE moments Saturday.  I woke up and anxiously made breakfast for Geoffrey's first day as Dr. Wood.  I watched him pull his white coat  up and over his shoulders and my mind began to race through all the hours, weeks, months and years that he has worked and preserved to get to this point.  My eyes quickly filled with tears. I thought of all the sacrifices he has made, that we have made together, and that our parents and families have made in support of this career dream of his.  He has worked hard.  Really hard to get here.
I realize I am his biggest fan.  But tonight as I sit and think about his horribly long day (he left at 6:15 a.m. and his shift doesn't end until "2 a.m." (who knows when he'll REALLY get off though)) I am so grateful that I have all the confidence in the world that when they page "Dr. Wood", his patients will be in good hands.

That's a crazy shift! What happened to the new 16-hour rule?!

I still will have moments like that when I see Casey leave for his shifts in his uniform. Obviously firefighter & paramedic is very different work, training, tests, etc from what your husband did--but the goal was the same...working hard to pursue a dream job. It's fun to see dreams come true. =) Congrats to your family!
