Good Riddance

Good Bye tonsils!!!
I woke Hugh up early, and scooped him in my arms to head to the surgical center and he said, "This is so fun! Where are we going??" He had no idea what was coming to him.  We hadn't told him in advance because we knew he would be too nervous.  So when we got to the office, I knew he only needed to understand as far as when the anesthesiologist puts the mask on him.
So we played around and tried to stay occupied while we were waiting for the doctors to come and take him back to the operating room.
Here is a wacky picture of me, because of course Hugh thought the hats were so funny and taking pictures was so fun.
After about 40 minutes, the nurses came and got me and took me back to be with him.
He kept telling everyone that he needed breakfast, and was so excited when the nurses told he can have as many popsicles as he wanted for breakfast.  He couldn't really get much down, but in theory...breakfast popsicles are awesome.
His biggest complaint was the IV.  It bugged him.  But I was grateful that they loaded him up with fluids, because getting them down him has been nearly impossible.
We're just working through the recovery now.  Good moments and awful moments.  I think it has all been very typical.  We love him, and are hoping that with the lack of sleep problems we can start to get our happy boy back!

Way to go, Hugh! I had that surgery when I was little too and I've never missed them! I hope you get lots and lots of popsicles and ice cream!

I know this is about Hugh, but A.M. you look so good! So cute! Makes me miss you guys.

We hope you feel better Hughie! You're a tough boy. We'll eat a popsicle in your honor.

Josh got his tonsils out this past summer and I think it was more traumatic for me than for him. :) If it's any consolation, Josh sleeps like a champ after getting his tonsils out. Cute pictures though!!

GLad you got through it! Looks like Hughie was brave and you prepared him just the perfect amount for what was going to happen. And yes AM, you look great!
